Honors and Awards In 2002, because of its outstanding commitment to the donor recruitment process and for raising public awareness, Michael’s Fund was presented with the National Marrow Program’s prestigious Allison Atlas Award. In 2004, one of the donors recruited through Michael’s Fund met his 5 year old recipient in a special ceremony at the National Marrow Donor Program in Minneapolis Minnesota. In 2007, because of its proven longevity as a volunteer charity and its continued commitment to the support of the National Marrow Donor Program’s mission, Michael’s Fund was honored with a second prestigious award, the Volunteer Innovation Award, the first of its kind granted in the history of the National Marrow Donor Program. In October 2007, Michael’s mom and dad, Cindy and Tom Wrobel, were personally invited to the National Marrow Donor Program’s 20th Annual Conference, held in Minneapolis Minnesota, to accept this special award and to enlighten an audience of over a thousand about Michael and the unique fund his noble life and death inspired.
