National Bone Marrow Program The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) facilitates unrelated marrow transplants for patients with life-threatening blood diseases by recruiting donors, maintaining a Registry of more than 3 million volunteer donors and offering patient services–while also conducting research to further the field of unrelated marrow transplantation. Today, more than 350 patients receive marrow transplants through NMDP each month, and greater than 4,000 people helped in 2007-2008. 10,000 patients a year could benefit from unrelated marrow transplants.
